August 6, 2026 marks the 61st anniversary of the signing of the Voting Rights Act — and this year, we’re commemorating it the way we always do: with data, dialogue, and Black women leading the conversation.
Sisters Lead Sisters Vote is proud to share that our President, Holli Holliday, will be joining the “Sisters Can We Talk” panel as part of the Black Women’s Roundtable’s (BWR) landmark 10th Annual Power of the Sister Vote Poll release event, hosted in partnership with The Root.
What’s Happening
The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation’s Black Women’s Roundtable will host a virtual media briefing releasing Part II of its 10th Annual Power of the Sister Vote Poll — a deep, data-driven look at Black women’s political attitudes, voter engagement, and priorities heading into the 2026 midterm elections. The poll was conducted by Sojourner Strategies and is powered by Oxfam and SEIU.
Following the data release, the Sisters Can We Talk panel will take the conversation further — unpacking what the numbers mean for our communities, our families, and the decisions in front of us this election cycle. That’s where you’ll hear directly from our President.

Why This Matters
Sixty-one years after the Voting Rights Act was signed, the fight to protect and understand Black women’s political power is far from over. Polls like this one don’t just measure opinion — they document our priorities, our concerns, and our influence in real time. They give organizers, candidates, and everyday sisters a clear picture of where we stand and what we’re demanding heading into 2026.
At SLSV, we believe Black women shouldn’t just be studied — we should be in the room shaping how that data gets used. That’s exactly why our President is joining this panel: to make sure the conversation moves from numbers to action.
