Dear Sisters and Allies,

As the chances of a recession grows with each passing day with recent news showing that the economy unexpectedly shrank, President Trump would rather lie to our face and say that “Everything is fine”and that he’s “Doing such a good job”.

Well, It is said that change does not come from Washington, but rather change comes to Washington. If the results from Texas’s May 1st local municipal elections were a sign of anything, it is that the people are rising up against this Administration and the far-right conservative movement. 

While the President continues to do nothing to address the rising concerns of a recession, the people are rising up to bring forth the progress that we have long wanted to see. Let us continue to stand up and meet the moment.

Texas sends a message

This past weekend, on May 3rd, Texas held local general elections that showed that the people are rising up against this far-right regime. The people are waking up to this Administration, and they are not taking it lying down. The progress that we are seeing in local elections, especially in a state like Texas, shows that political power comes from the bottom up. Change doesn’t come from Washington, it comes to Washington.

• 'Texas conservatives lose in school board elections': The sweeping losses for conservative school board hopefuls also served as an early sign of potential backlash to the nascent administration of President Donald Trump, ahead of a 2026 midterm in which a number of statewide offices will be on the ballot. https://www.texastribune.org/2025/05/05/texas-school-board-races/ 
• ‘How did conservative candidates fare in Tarrant County area elections?’: The people of Texas turned out to send a message to Trump. Texas No. of Candidates: 23, Wins: 12, Losses: 11

School board Election: Allen, TX - May 3rd General

Allen Independent School District School Board, Place 5: Rosalind Lewis ran for the open non-partisan Allen Independent School District School Board, Place 5 seat. Rosaland Lewis, unfortunately, did not advance to win the general election.

School board Election: Crowley, TX - May 3rd General

Crowley Independent School District School Board, Place 5: Chakina Watkins ran for the open non-partisan Crowley Independent School District School Board, Place 5 seat. Chakina Watkins ultimately won the seat.

School board Election: Crowley, TX - May 3rd General

Crowley Independent School District School Board, Place 7: Kelicia Stevenson, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Crowley Independent School District School Board, Place 7 seat. Kelicia Stevenson ultimately won the seat. 

School board Election: Dallas, TX - May 3rd General

Dallas Independent School District School Board, District 4: Camile White, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Dallas Independent School District School Board, District 4 seat. Camile White, unfortunately, was not re-elected to the seat. 

Dallas Independent School District School Board, District 5:  Natashia Gerald ran for the open non-partisan Dallas Independent School District School Board, District 5 seat. Natashia Gerald unfortunately, did not advance to win the general election.

School board Election: Fort Bend, TX - May 3rd General

Fort Ben Independent School District School Board, Position 7: Alison Drew ran for the open non-partisan Fort Bend Independent School District School Board, Position 7 seat. Allison Drew unfortunately, did not advance to win the general election.

School board Election: Fort Worth, TX - May 3rd General

Fort Worth Independent School District School Board, District 9: Robyne Kelly ran as a challenger against incumbent Roxanne Martinez for the non-partisan Fort Worth Independent School District School Board, District 9 seat. Robyne Kelly unfortunately, did not advance to win the general election.

School board Election: Frisco, TX - May 3rd General

Frisco Independent School District School Board, Position 7: Renee Sample ran for the open non-partisan Frisco Independent School District School Board, Place 2 seat. Renee Sample ultimately won the seat.

School board Election: Galena Park, TX - May 3rd General

Galena Park Independent School District School Board, Position 3: Linda Clark-Sherrard, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Galena Park Independent School District School Board, Position 3 seat. Linda Clark-Sherrard ultimately won re-election to the seat.

Galena Park Independent School District School Board, Position 4: Wanda Heath Johnson ran as a challenger against incumbent Ramon Garza for the non-partisan Galena Park Independent School District School Board, Position 4 seat. Wanda Heath Johnson unfortunately, did not advance to win the general election.

School board Election: Garland, TX - May 3rd General 

Garland Independent School District School Board, Position 3: Linda Griffin, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Galena Park Independent School District School Board, Position 3 seat. Linda Griffin ultimately won re-election to the seat.

School board Election: Grand Prairie, TX - May 3rd General 

Grand Prairie Independent School District School Board, Place 6: Stacey Brown ran as a challenger against incumbent Emily Liles for the non-partisan Grand Prairie Independent School District School Board, Place 6 seat. Stacey Brown unfortunately, did not advance to win the general election.

Grand Prairie Independent School District School Board, Place 7 At-Large:  Amber Moffitt ,incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Grand Prairie Independent School District School Board, Place 7 At-Large seat. Amber Moffitt ultimately won re-election to the seat.

School board Election: Humble, TX - May 3rd General 

Humble Independent School District School Board, Position 3: Natalie Carter ran as a challenger against incumbent Christine Parker for the non-partisan Grand Prairie Independent School District School Board, Position 3 seat. Natalie Carter unfortunately, did not advance to win the general election.

Humble Independent School District School Board, Position 4: Brittnai Brown ran as a challenger against incumbent Ken Kirchhofer for the non-partisan Grand Prairie Independent School District School Board, Position 4 seat. Brittnai Brown ultimately won the seat.

School board Election: Judson, TX - May 3rd General 

Judson Independent School District School Board, District 2:  Dr. Monique Robinson ran for the open non-partisan Judson Independent School District School Board, District 2 seat. Dr. Monique Robinson, unfortunately, did not advance to win the general election.

School board Election: Killeen, TX - May 3rd General 

Killeen Independent School District School Board, Place 1:  Brenda Adams, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Killeen Independent School District School Board, Place 1 seat. Brenda Adams ultimately won re-election to the seat.

School board Election: Lancaster, TX - May 3rd General 

Lancaster Independent School District School Board, District 3: Temika Whitfield, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Lancaster Independent School District School Board, District 3 seat. Temika Whitfield, unfortunately, was not re-elected to the seat. 

School board Election: Lewisville, TX - May 3rd General 

Lewisville Independent School District School Board, Place 7 At-Large: Sheila Taylor, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Killeen Independent School District School Board, Place 7 At-Large seat. Sheila Taylor ultimately won re-election to the seat.

School board Election: Mesquite, TX - May 3rd General 

Mesquite Independent School District School Board, Place 1:  Teia Collier, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Mesquite Independent School District School Board, Place 1 seat. Teia Collier ultimately won re-election to the seat.

School board Election: Northside, TX - May 3rd General 

Northside Independent School District School Board, District 2: Mary Olison ran as a challenger against incumbent Homer Guevara Jr. for the non-partisan Northside Independent School District School Board, District 2 seat. Mary Olison, unfortunately, did not advance to win the general election.

School board Election: Pflugerville, TX - May 3rd General 

Pflugerville Independent School District School Board, Place 3:  Renae Mitchell, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Mesquite Independent School District School Board, Place 3 seat. Renae Mitchell ultimately won re-election to the seat.

School board Election: Richardson, TX - May 3rd General 

Richardson Independent School District School Board, District 3: Regina Harris, incumbent, ran for re-election to the non-partisan Richardson Independent School District School Board, District 3 seat. Regina Harris ultimately won re-election to the seat.
